I just upgraded from Manga Studio Debut 3 to Debut 4, and let me tell you that it is a sexy, sexy thing. They took everything I liked about the older version and made it better, more responsive, and easier to use. (Auuugh I sound like a press release.) I always used Debut 3 to do my inking for personal projects and for work--it was fun, but still a little difficult at times. Now I am literally running around looking for excuses to ink things in the new one. It's that much fun.

Best of all, if you have version 3, you can upgrade to 4 for only twenty bucks. Linky go here: [link]

I know the program is a little counter intuitive, so if you do happen to get it and run into trouble, hit me up with a note and I'll see if I can sort you out.

I. Love. This. Program.

what are its advantages over say, Photoshop when it comes to inking?

You can rotate the canvas at will (Photoshop CS4 allows this if you have opengl enabled, otherwise no dice), but the biggest thing for me is the consistent line quality and the correction feature. You can set the correction amount, plus control how much it corrects according to stroke speed. It's kind of like Illustrator without the stupid. MS also includes screentones and comic layout tools. Plus, you can export your files as .psds to color them.

Also their curve tool is sexypants.

I love manga studio 4, especially the pencil tool, soo easy to just sketch and doodle and it looks good too! I tried other programmes to draw and couldn't get on with them at all. Inking is easy too.

The only thing I can't figure out is the fill tool to fill inside the lines. It just covers the whole lot. MS3 filled it in fine. :/

I love opening the biggest page to draw on, so much freedom. :3

*snorts* At least we know you don't get paid for saying it ;P

Is it easy to use? I'm thinking about finding an new art program to replace my OpenCanvas because I cant find a place to buy it (the full-version of opencanvas, that is) :(

Unfortunately, MS Debut only does black and white art; you'd need the EX version to do color, and it's rather expensive.

As for opencanvas, you can purchase the full version here: [link] The page is a little hard to understand because English isn't their first language, but you should be able to get through it.
